Ponybird

So pleased to welcome Ponybird to Compassionfest 2017. "Jennifer Dauphinais is a songwriter’s songwriter. She takes her time with her compositions, seeing them through the stages of life, the way a parent watches a child grow. Heavy-handed when necessary, helpless at other times, in love from start to finish. "
- Chip McCabe, Lonesome Noise
Influenced by the emotional roots of country, the confessional poetry of folk, and the spatial freedom of ambient and harmonic tones, Ponybird is the solo project of Jennifer Dauphinais, an evolving artist who translates something both introspective and infinite all at once. The heart of Ponybird is derived from a central singer-songwriter focus, with a tribe of players that satellite the work. Performing regionally, Ponybird has shared the bill with noteable acts such as Vetiver, Sarah Lee Guthrie, Blood Warrior, Amy LaVere & Will Sexton, Alexander Turnquist, Arborea, Violent Mae, James Maple, and Kerri Powers.

For an idea of what kind of music we feature, below are last year's acts:

Miette

Miette is a vegan singer/songwriter from Long Island, and has resided in CT for the past few years. Her unique style of music, self-coined as “ethereal folk”, has a very cinematic quality which been compared to artists such as Tori Amos, Emiliana Torrini, and Regina Spektor. Her self-produced album, “Something Tidal” was first released in 2012, and features a more traditional folk sound. Miette now spends her time performing and working on a new album, entitled “The Dream and the Nightmare” which will focus on her spiritual journey, and feature a more electronic ambiance.

Zoo Front

Zoo Front has been part of the CT music scene since 1991. Currently a trio, their original music is a mix of quirky little pop songs and playful rock. If it doesn’t make you think, it’ll make you dance – or both!

Idiosynchronicity

From the sonic depths of the Earth and far beyond, Idiosynchronicity conjures sounds both soothing and aggressive to get you moving, feeling, and just get you. Prepare yourself for an experience of electronic music created with all the good intentions of the natural world to release a tribal-like healing state in which chakras vibrate, sweat pours, and the beat only stops when we’re all exhausted. Surrounded by black lights and covered in psychedelic neon shamanic paint sometimes donning masks representing animal spirits, let’s take music to new places together. A vegan producer and songwriter, Idiosynchronicity hails from the Midwestern plains of Iowa, but is currently discovering the mountains of Colorado.

Rudeyna

Pleased to announce our next musical guest, Rudeyna this band offers multi-dimensional musical adventures, an honest story, unabashed creative play, and the possibility of spontaneous drop-splits. Dynamic performances, kaleidoscope harmonies, rhythmic non-conventions, lots of heart. “Mastermind the Bigger-ness in living.” Its been said by a fan “You can hear the music not only with your ears but our hearts and souls.”
