We are so grateful to welcome our special sponsor and food vendor Nooch It UPrise Foods will be at Compassionfest 2020!
UPrise Foods uses plant-based organic ingredients you can trust to create tasty cheeziness that has Revolution in Every Bite.
We are an independent family-owned plant-based food company based in the Greater Boston area. We are founded on the principle that healthy food can be delicious and compassion tastes as good as it feels.
Like so many others in recent years, we found that our food was not what we thought it was, and that what seemed to be balanced might not be good for us after all. Then we discovered that eating healthy can be tasty, good for the environment, and compassionate … all in the same bite.
Our journey began when we realized the positive impact plant-based foods have on our health, the environment, and in preventing unnecessary suffering. Each us starts that journey in a different way, and for different reasons. For some it’s health, while for others it may be planetary stewardship or a compassionate lifestyle. Regardless of the reasons, every journey begins with a first step.

We are so grateful to announce that JP Farm Animal Sanctuary will be this year's "Compassionate Cause" at Compassionfest 2020.
Please stop by JP's table at this year's event to learn more how you can support.
JP Farm Animal Sanctuary, stands for Janssen, Printy our names. But we like to think it also means Joy and Peace as it is a safe place for rescued farm animals to live out their lives with freedom, love and dignity. Our goal is to inspire compassionate living by being advocates of vegan lifestyles on behalf of our rescues and the many voiceless. We believe by sharing each of our resident’s stories we will be giving farmed animals, far and wide, a voice to inspire people to make the connection and thus change their destiny for the better. Come and hear our story of how we made the connection and continue to deepen it through the lives of the beautiful souls living at JP.
We first lived in Newtown Connecticut, Oscar was learning about Scottish Highland cattle and during a visit to a farm he noticed a cow that was in severe distress and needed medical care. She had just calved and was unable to feed her calf, was underweight and had a deep wound in her backside. It was clear to him that she needed help. So Oscar and I returned to the farm and asked the farmer if we could help him get her back on her feet.
Anchor Once Belle was better we decided to take her, Brody and the rest of the ‘Hippy Cows’ home. That was Cara and her calf Cody, Ethan and Grady.
Our farm in Newtown was too small so we found the perfect spot in Litchfield and moved there in February of 2019.
In addition to the cows we have been able to rescue two ‘pink girls’  and a boy pig. They all three came from a college agricultural program where the students were assigned an animal to train then realized they would soon go to slaughter.

VINE Sanctuary offers refuge to animals who have escaped or been rescued from the meat, dairy and egg industries or other hurtful circumstances, such as cockfighting, pigeon racing, vivisect
ion, and zoos. Sanctuary residents include chickens, cows, pigeons, ducks, doves, geese, sheep, peacocks, emus, guineafowl, and one exceptional pig.

In addition to sheltering and advocating for animals, we conduct research and education aimed at creating systemic changes in agriculture, trade, and consumption as well as human attitudes about animals and the environment.

We work within an ecofeminist understanding of the interconnection of all life and the intersection of all forms of oppression. Thus we welcome and work to facilitate alliances among animal, environmental, and social justice activists.

Our sanctuary was the first to figure out how to rehabilitate roosters used in cockfighting and continues to both shelter and advocate for these birds. We were founded and are predominantly staffed by LGBTQ people and have taken a leading role in the effort to understand the connections among speciesism, sexism, and homophobia
.

After Midnight Creations/ A Momentary Calm

Bringing blessings and healing to our animal friends. Pleased to announce A Momentary Calm & After Midnight Creations - Art Inspired by Soul to Compassionfest 2017. Betsy-ann, of A Momentary Calm & After Midnight Creations, is an active visual artist and member of the Valley Arts Council in Derby, CT., specializing in inspirational and 3D art collages and special occasion card boxes. She also holds certification as an Usui Reiki Master (since 2010), and received her Kundalini Reiki Master certification in 2012. Betsy recently began expanding her work, providing Animal Reiki services after her son's lovable "pitty" began requesting her treatment when she came to visit. Her Energy work is intended to help the recipient tap into the body's own healing power, to release dis-ease and energy imbalances within the Human Energy Field. Betsy acts as a channel, to bring forward the Universal Life Force energy that surrounds and infuses us, to facilitate this process.
About all her work, she notes, "I believe I am called to teach, to help in healing, to offer guidance, and to share my artistic vision, to make the world a little more joy-filled. Animals are more closely connected to spirit and the unseen, and are naturally compassionate, loving beings. I love to help them, as well as their human partners, to connect to the Universal Energy. Perhaps you will join me as we explore, and rejuvenate our spirits with, the power and benefits of art & Reiki."

(DVA) is an organization of those committed both to practicing the teachings of the Buddha (the Dharma) and to speaking out when animal suffering is supported by the actions of those in Dharma communities and by the policies of Dharma centers. We want to be the voice of the animals who cannot speak our language and are unable to ask, “Why are you paying people to do this to me?” or “Why are you supporting my suffering?” We want to support those who are willing to speak out about the harm we cause other sentient beings when we eat them, use their body parts as clothing and in other ways, or use household and personal hygiene products that are tested on animals. While DVA recognizes the challenges of living in a complex, modern society, we wish to promote the choices that provide the greatest reduction of animal suffering. It is our intention to be inclusive in honoring the different views of those who sincerely intend to minimize the suffering of animals.

Connecticut Votes For Animals (CVA)

The fate of Connecticut’s animals is being decided every day at the state legislature; Connecticut Votes For Animals is working hard to ensure that animals – and those who care about them – get a say in the decisions that are made. To bring about long-term, positive change for animals, we must persuade legislators of the importance of being pro-animal and also elect animal-friendly lawmakers. We can do so by exerting constituent pressure – that is, calling our representatives about important animal protection issues – and also voting for humane-minded candidates. The more people who are willing to make their vote count for animals, the more lawmakers will listen. CVA facilitates this process – educating the public regarding animal protection issues, fighting harmful proposals, and safeguarding animals’ interests by making their well-being a priority for our elected leaders.

Hartford Walk for Farm Animals

The Walk for Farm Animals has been part of Farm Sanctuary since the beginning. In 1986, we didn’t yet have our sanctuary in Watkins Glen, but we had a small group of dedicated volunteers who helped us establish the first Walk for Farm Animals in support of our mission to stop animal abuse and su

ffering. Those first efforts were modest by today’s standards, but they helped fund the down payment for what became our first official shelter and national headquarters. From those humble beginnings, the Walks have continued to be a vital part of our fundraising and outreach efforts and keep growing as more people learn about farm animal issues and want to help. The funds raised by the Walks support our work to rescue farm animals, provide urgent care and lifelong refuge, as well as our education and advocacy efforts for farm animals everywhere. Over the years, the Walks have raised nearly $2 million for Farm Sanctuary thanks to the dedication of our volunteer Walk Coordinators and our amazing walkers! http://walkforfarmanimals.org/
